Drawn on a section of Holly log, I have drawn this Avro Lancaster to use as much of the surface area of the wood as possible. The wood has some small natural splits, and I have kept the tree-bark in its natural state.
The Avro Lancaster was designed by Roy Chadwick and was a larger version of the twin engined Avro Manchester. Powered by four of the legendary Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 piston engines, the Lancaster saw its first service with the RAF in 1942. Mainly used as a nightime bomber, the Lancaster was capable of carrying all of the heavy bombs used by the RAF during the Second World War, including the famous "Upkeep" bouncing bomb used in the operations against the Ruhr dams in Germany. The last remaining Lancasters didn't retire until 1963.
I have signed it with my initials in the lower right of the artwork, it is sealed and finished with 4 coats of satin varnish on both sides and comes with a 'd' ring wall hanger.
