This pyrography wall artwork of HMS Illustrious shows her in her pre 2010 guise, as an aircraft carrier. This artwork shows her recovering two Harrier "jump-jets". Following the controversial withdrawal of the Harrier VSTOL fighter in 2010,"Lusty", as she is known in the Royal Navy, operated as one of two Royal Navy helicopter carriers until her retirement in May, 2016.
This artwork is approximately 200 x 200mm (8" x8"), and is unframed.
I have hand-drawn a huge amount of accurate detail in this artwork, from the anti-aircraft missile defence system on the fore-deck, flight-deck markings, even the flight-deck safety nets are in the proper position (lowered) for flying operations.
It is drawn on 3mm beech-faced plywood, and is sealed with 3 coats of varnish.
Indoor use only.
