Original Pyrography railway artwork of the Flying Scotsman steam locomotive.
This is a very large pyrograph, and is the biggest work of art I have made to date.
Measures 920mm x 410mm (36" x 16").
I have got lots of the 'technical' details into this one, and as a steam nut I know how important such details are to get right. From the correct position of the drive-rods/valve-gear in relation to the wheel counter-balances, to the correct number of spokes, even the correct number of nuts and rivets where they are visible!
This pyrograph is drawn on a section of beech-face plywood, and took me over 110 hours, and nearly three weeks to finish. Working from a series of A4 photographs, I used draughtsman's techniques I learned in school (a VERY long time ago!!) to up-scale the artwork to this huge size - quite a challenge in itself!
It is signed in the bottom right corner (as is all my work), and is professionally framed.
All pyrographs should be kept out of direct sunlight, as the sun will bleach the wood.
