Original wood wall art of a vintage railway steam train. This steam locomotive is an S15 class 4-6-0, no 825, hauling her train of 5 period carriages. Originally built for the London and South Western Railway, these locomotives were mainly used to haul freight, with occasional passenger duties. Only 7 examples of these steam engines have been preserved, with No 825 currently running on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
I took the original photograph of the locomotive as she hauled her train into Levisham Station one summers evening in 2014, on one of our frequent visits to this preserved railway. I'm still trying to photograph all the locomotives operated by the NYMR, but it will take time as, by their very nature, steam engines need a lot of maintenance and spend a lot of time in the engine sheds!
Drawn on pine faced plywood, I have managed to get a lot of fine detail into this pyrograph, which took over 20 hours to complete.
This artwork measures 540mm x 280mm (21" x 11") aprox.
All pyrographs should be kept out of direct sunlight, as the sun will bleach the wood.
